 Nice For Now, But Does Not Keep Well May 20, 2010

These socks were part of a birthday present to my wife last December. I read the reviews extolling the surreal softness of the fabric, and knew I couldn't go wrong (although expensive for a pair of non-athletic socks, imo, the price was right). What, I guess, I maybe ignored were the little hints and warnings suggesting the socks may shed, or deteriorate over time. Therefore, I will not mince words here: YOU WILL NOT WANT THESE SOCKS AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF USE. Straight out of the packaging I had to snip a stray fabric or two here and there to make it most presentable to her as a present (tried not to think much of it). After receiving them, she was touched, and remarked how warm and extremely soft -- almost silk-like -- they were (despite the fact this softness quality in the fabric material used also made it a slightly dangerous proposition to walk on hard surfaces, such as in the kitchen). The pink color was vibrant as well. However, after only a few weeks worth of washing, I began to notice the "fluff" of these socks withdrawing, with the fabric becoming increasingly matted. In addition to this, the color gradually faded from a pleasant carnation pink to an insipid, droll color, only made worse by each day's use seemingly having a cumulative effect on the socks' appearance, with streaks of black all over from the dirt of the floor contributing to its grungy look (all over the course of 2-3 months of occasional wear).
Why this gets 3 stars and not 1 is because my wife will actually still wear these things; they are still the warmest -- if no longer the softest -- socks she's owned, and the wear on the socks may have fixed the slipping problem. My wife is understanding, so the fact they're a mere shell of their former selves makes no difference to her, but I'd caution anyone giving them as a gift to a co-worker, a boss even, as anyone who isn't a loved one might consider these a dud. Buy them for yourself or someone dear to you, but temper yours and their expectations greatly.

my wife LOVES these socks... they are inexpensive and seem to be very good quality.. they even stay soft after being in the dier.. but I wouldn't dry them too hot..

These socks were soft and comfy, but none of that can make up for the red and blue fibers I have found everywhere. My beige carpet was a mess. Even after washing both pairs, they are leaving a trail, and I feel I wasted $17.
Softest socks ever! February 10, 2010

I bought several of these for Christmas presents. While more expensive than most, they are well worth the price. Great quality and seriously soft. My daughter gave a black pair to her boyfriend and they are by far his favorite down time socks. Wash and wear over and over, they just get softer!
